Eriskay or Eirisgeigh is a small island off the south coast of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. A causeway links the island to Uist, but there is also a ferry that runs south to Barra.
The island has (at least)O two claims to fame. It was where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed at the start of the '45 Jacobite uprising. Two centuries later the SS Politician sank off the coast, a story that inspired the film 'Whisky Galore'.
