Leadgate is a small hamlet in the South Tyne valley, a couple of miles to the south of the market town of Alston. The hamlet is a little to the west of the South Tyne River, and sits just to the north of Black Burn. The A 686 from Alston to Penrith runs just to the north of the hamlet.
