Holwick

Holwick is a small village at the end of a dead-end road on the south side of the River Tees. The village sits at the foot of Holwick Scars, a series of crags that line the steep ground above the village. The only road runs east from Holwick and joins the main road just to the south of Middleton-in-Teesdale. Holwick is well placed for the most famous waterfalls in Teesdale - Low Force is a short distance to the north while High Force can be reached along a footpath that runs west from Holwick Lodge, just to the north-west of the main village and at the end of the road.
