This Newbiggin is located on the north-western corner of the North Pennines (and is one of three in the area). The village sits in a valley that runs parallel to the edge of the high ground, with much higher land to the east than the west. The village sits in the small side valley of Newbiggin Beck, which runs into Cairn Beck, the main stream through the valley.
